Summer in Egersund

Egersund is a lovely summer town on the coast of south-west Norway. The listed wooden buildings from the 1850s have created a cosy centre with shops, restaurants, hiking areas and swimming spots. Nature experiences such as Trollpikken and Skadbergsanden are a short distance from Grand Hotell, and we can offer exciting activity packages, electric bike hire and frisbee golf.

Hire a bike

With us, you can buy travel packages that include accommodation and loan of electric bikes. Read more about our bike packages here. We have both electric bikes and regular bikes for hire. Please contact reception if you wish to hire a bike.

Magma Geopark

The geology in Egersund is unique on a global scale. In fact, you'd have to go to the moon to see more anorthosite - the rock we have the most of - in one place! Egersund is located in a Magma Geopark that is recognised by UNESCO. There are only 140 such geoparks in the world. Check out Magma Georpark, an adventure of nature experiences for both young and old. City tours and shopping in the treehouse city

Egersund is said to be one of the Norway's best preserved wooden villages. Here you can stroll around cosy little streets among listed wooden houses that today house shops, restaurants, cafés and small homes. A pleasant pedestrian and shopping street stretches from the hotel through the entire city centre. Culture trail in the city centre has become a popular activity for tourists and others who want to get to know the city and its history better.

More summer activities

We love these activities and think you'll love them too: 

  • Trip to Trollpikken - The hike is easy to walk and offers spectacular nature experiences.
  • The pedestrian street and the treehouse city - great experience whether you want to go sightseeing or shopping
  • Eigerøy lighthouse - a beautiful and family-friendly trip. Playful natural landscape, with lovely views.
  • Bathing - Vannbassengan, Skadbergsanden, Gådå, Elveparken and Mastrasanden are all great swimming spots. 
  • Cycling - You can hire electric bikes and regular bikes from us. Ask us if you want tips on routes that are suitable for you.
  • Skadberg sand is a beautiful sandy beach on Eigerøy. A popular bathing beach and a favourite hiking destination all year round.
  • Frisbee golf at Skadbergsanden (you can borrow equipment from us). There is also a great frisbee golf course in Vannbassengan, close to the city centre.

Driving experiences

There are a number of magnificent driving routes and nature experiences that you can reach by car from Egersund. With the «hub riding» concept, you can stay with us for several nights and experience exciting driving routes during the day. We have planned great day trips and driving routes for you. You can choose between several set routes and experiences depending on your interests, whether you want historical or nature experiences.
The routes are adapted for cars, bicycles and motorbikes.
